Fighting in the main event was of an unusually dense, hard, even the "tough" character. Suffice it to say that the first day of competition has left less than half the participants - in stark contrast to the main events in Kiev, and Tallinn. The second day was a game has not changed. In addition, participants played only six levels. The whole "guilt" so-called "Beer Party" at the hotel pool, which heartily rejoice, players, journalists and organizers.
Thus, the third day, which was originally scheduled for the final table, the tournament still had 38 players. Fortunately, at this point participants sharply accelerated and the fourth day is not needed. It is known that forecasts of the result of a poker tournament - a thankless job. Main event of the Yalta segment was an exception to this rule.
After the second day most of the audience and journalists predicted the final duel Cyril Telezhkin (Crazy Raccoon) - Denis Pestretzoff (PODOX). These players have shown the most dramatic, informative and powerful poker. It is interesting that opponents to this are not personally familiar, a friend introduced during the tournament, as the future finalists. These players have met in a heads-ane Main Event!
The very same final match turned out not too spectacular - Kirill Telezhkin to this point was a huge advantage in the number of chips. Be stacks comparable, we probably would have seen a very interesting heads-up, but not this time. PODOX did everything he could and even managed to win back a few hundred chips, but resist the inevitable was beyond his power. June 27 Hall "Crystal" Yalta Intourist hotel started the Main Event of the fifth phase of the popular series Betfair Poker Live! In the competition for the No Limit Texas Hold'em with the contribution of 820 dollars was attended by 260 players from Austria, Bulgaria, Ukraine, United Kingdom, France, Poland, Finland, Spain, USA and Russia. Thus was formed a record for the tournament prize fund $ 206,804. The competition is set 36 prizes (1st - $ 45,000).
It seems that these impressive figures involuntarily effect on participants, who, especially at first, acted very cautiously - in stark contrast to the tournament in Kiev, and Tallinn. No wonder that after the first day of the fight continues for more than half claimed, and the main departures occurred during the final, seventh round. It is in the last half hour the famous "player out" echoed through the hall more often.
The tournament continued "good" traditions established yet in Tallinn - the lucky man who managed to dislodge the so-called Betfair Bounty (appointed by Betfair) determined before the first break. Frankly, this scenario seems unlikely, because the potential victim was none other than Alex Kovalchuk, winner of the main phase of the tournament in Kiev. Nevertheless, Sergei Kerzhakov at the right time were able to deal a decisive blow and deprive Alexei remnants of its stack. For his achievement Sergei receive a prize package for the next major tournament will be held in one of the countries of Eastern Europe.
Given the tight nature of the game in the tournament, it was difficult to expect after the first day of the dominant leaders. They are not. It will be interesting to monitor the progress of the fight in the second day and the formation of the final table.
